Top waterholes and waterfalls in Southern Queensland – Be amazed by the gifts by Nature

When you choose to spend one of your holidays in Southern Queensland, know that you are going to get so close to nature in multiple ways. The waterholes and waterfalls you find here are some of the best in the world, and while enjoying the beauty, you can engage in many activities in them too.

1

Lake Cooby, Toowoomba

If you are looking for something to do when you holiday at one of the serviced apartments in Toowoomba the likes of Oaks Toowoomba Hotel, here's a great place for you to go. Especially if you are into fishing, sailing, and canoeing, Lake Cooby is surely for you to explore and enjoy. You won't get the chance to swim here, but all other chances to enjoy yourselves.

2

Queen Mary Falls, Killarney

Have you ever heard of the World Heritage Site named Gondwana Rainforests of Australia? Then, Queen Mary Falls is a part of it. So, why not schedule a picnic to see this cascading beauty when you are there and re-think about all the wonders of nature that we take for granted?

3

Lake Leslie, Warwick

There's no waterfall here but it is surely an ideal spot for you to relax yourselves. If you are someone interested in freshwater fishing, then this lake is for you, and people also consider it a great camping destination. The atmosphere here is so calm, and that's why many people come here to refresh their souls by a serene swim or a quiet kayak session.

4

Coomba Falls, Maidenwell

This is a very deep natural swimming hole that stays icy cold no matter what time of the year you visit it. The granite cliffs behind provide a great photo backdrop and this makes this spot a place with amazing picturesqueness. It's a very short walk away from Coomba Falls, so do not miss this out!

5

Pools in Crows Nest National Park

Although the famous Crows Nest Falls is closed now, you can still visit this National Park to enjoy the beauty of the Cascades Pool, Kauyoo Pool and Bottlebrush Pool in it. You will first meet the Cascades and the Kauyoo Pools, and the speciality of both these waterholes is that they are both very shallow and even the kids can enjoy them safely. The biggest waterhole of the three is the Bottlebrush Pool and that, of course, is for the keen swimmers.

6

Lee's Reserve

If you plan to reconnect with nature, then Lee's Reserve is the place that you should opt for. It's a free camping site in Southern Queensland, but it lacks facilities. So, if you decide to camp here, come prepared with enough drinking water, firewood, and snacks. One of the most fun things to do here is fishing and wildlife watching at the same time. There will be pelicans coming to you if you offer them some water, and this is a wonderful experience you can have in this favourite spot.
