Top 5 Beaches in Mackay – Gorgeous Coastal Delights

Mackay is known all over the world for its beautiful beaches. It will offer the kinds of beaches people look for when they are trying to relax and unwind or when they want to have an exciting and adrenaline-inducing time. Here are what are considered some of the best beaches in Mackay.

1

Bucasia Beach

Bucasia Beach is the longest beach in Mackay and stretches about 4 km long and is home to many pretty resorts. The beach is pet-friendly so is perfect for a sunrise jog with your dog or a sunset walk. Bucasia Beach is located on the north end of Mackay and is both popular among those interested in fishing and swimming. The southern part of the beach is home to mangroves and sandy pits that are perfect for fishing. The beach is constantly patrolled by lifeguards and so makes a great day out for the whole family.

2

Lamberts Beach

Situated just off of Bruce Highway near Slade Point Nature Reserve, Lamberts Beach is another popular beach for Mackay hotels. It makes for an excellent point from which to watch the whales migrating and also provides a fantastic view of the Cumberland Islands. The beach is patrolled during the high season, so make sure that you know if a lifeguard is available before going out for a swim. The fishing is great across seasons, especially for mackerel and reef fish. There's also the Ram Chandra Park for shade, barbecues, picnic tables and toilet facilities.

3

Harbour Beach

Harbour Beach is a quick drive from Oaks Mackay Carlyle Suites and is home to multiple fishing spots for mackerel, bream, jew and tuna among others. The harbour is also the home of one of the biggest events in Mackay, the annual Mackay Harbour Beach Horse Races. Harbour Beach is the centre of a lot of fun including Mulherin Park that is perfect for a barbecue or picnic with your family and friends. There's even a playground for the children and lifeguards constantly patrol the beach. You will also find these areas completely pet friendly.

4

Dolphin Heads

Dolphin Heads is the more secluded in this list of beaches perfect for those who are looking for somewhere away from the crowds where you can relax and enjoy the joys of nature. The beach is located 23 km towards North Mackay and provides terrific views of Dolphin Heads. The Dolphin Heads was named as such because of the unique shape of the headland which looks like a pair of dolphins back-to-back.

5

Town Beach

Town Beach is the best place to watch sunrises in Mackay. Be sure that you get there nice and early for great views of the sun rising over Round Top Reef, Flat Top Reef and Dalrymple Bay. A great south-eastern wind will let you get some kiteboarding done if you are feeling adventurous and there is a fantastic park where you can take your whole family for a picnic or a barbecue.
