Top Free Thing to Do in the Gold Coast – Have Loads of Fun!

The Gold Coast is Queensland's pride and joy when it comes to holiday destinations. There's so much to do and explore in the vicinity and it is also a great place to take your whole family for a weekend of a nice long vacation. But did you know that you can also find cheap and free things to do?

1

The Coast

The Gold Coast is 70 km of pure untouched bliss of beach. There are plenty of spectacular beaches that include Kurrawa Beach, Mermaid Beach, Main Beach, Surfers Paradise, Kirra Beach, Burleigh Heads and Miami Beach to name a few. You can take a surfboard or borrow one from a nearby surf shop and hit the waves while the children can play for hours on the wide beaches. It's a spectacular way to spend a day, and it's completely free.

2

Discover Nature

If you are planning to stay at a Coolangatta resort the likes of Oaks Gold Coast Calypso Plaza Suites you will find that you are in close quarters to many amazing national parks such as Mount Barney National Park, Natural Bridge rock formations, the World Heritage Gondwana Rainforests, Lamington National Park's Green Mountains as well as just unplanned rambles in the countryside. All of which are completely free for you to enjoy.

3

Craft Beer Shenanigans

Craft beer in the Gold Coast isn't free, but it is not very expensive either. You can make a day trip out of it, go bar hopping from one brewery to another and taste the delicious brews they have on offer. A good place to start would be Lost Palms Brewing Co, Sandbar in Surfers Paradise and Balter Brewing in Currumbin. The beer in the region is considered delicious so don't forgo a chance to try it out.

4

Hit the Markets

There are plenty of markets, especially on the weekends. There are plenty of farmers markets that you can find all through the Gold Coast where you can get delicious and healthy meals made of fresh products, buy the freshest produce and just hang around in a relaxing atmosphere with live music and plenty to see.

5

Go Biking

Another great way to explore the Gold Coast is on a bicycle. Not only is this a very eco-friendly way to explore nature but also probably the most picturesque and you can cover more ground than you would on foot. You can hire a bike at any of the local bicycle rentals for about 25 Australian dollars for half a day, but if you bring your own, this too is absolutely free.

6

Feast Outdoors

Every time you plan a meal, eat it outdoors instead of in a restaurant. Picnic meals are traditionally believed to be more delicious when eaten outdoors and your children will have a lot of fun playing around while they snack. You'll also find that this is a great way to make sure that your children eat all their veggies.
