The northern most wildlife sanctuary of Kerala, located on the western slope of Western Ghats extends to the forest of Coorg in the district of Karnataka state. The sanctuary area falls in Aralam, Kelakam and Kotiyoor revenue villages and it’s headquarter is near Iritty. The smallest sanctuaries in Kerala, is territory to many exotic wildlife species. Dotted with towering trees and dense foliage, the sanctuary is also equipped with numerous trekking sites and beautiful waterfalls. The famous central state farm, an initiative of the Government of India, is located in the Aralam village. The farm is among the chief production centres of hybrid coconut tree seeds in the country.

Situated between Ezhimala hill and the Kavvayi backwaters, Indian Naval Acadamey is the initial officer training establishment of the Indian navy and the Indian coast guard in the district. Known to be the largest in Asia, the academy is rich with wide variety flora and fauna including a large forest. This hill station in southern India has a rich history associated with itself, earlier it was referred to as Elimala, Mooshika Sailaim, and Sapta sailam. The region holds religious values for the Buddhist community, as it is believed that Lord Buddha has graced Ezhimala with his holy presence. The 286-meter high destination is located surrounding a pristine beach and appeals to both mountain enthusiasts as well as beach lovers.
