The northern most wildlife sanctuary of Kerala, located on the western slope of Western Ghats extends to the forest of Coorg in the district of Karnataka state. The sanctuary area falls in Aralam, Kelakam and Kotiyoor revenue villages and it’s headquarter is near Iritty. The smallest sanctuaries in Kerala, is territory to many exotic wildlife species. Dotted with towering trees and dense foliage, the sanctuary is also equipped with numerous trekking sites and beautiful waterfalls. The famous central state farm, an initiative of the Government of India, is located in the Aralam village. The farm is among the chief production centres of hybrid coconut tree seeds in the country.
Location: one can reach aralam sanctuary by road from Thalasseri about 45kms and Kannur about 45kms.
