During this time of economic recovery, automakers are starting to see a significant spike in car sales. March was a particularly profitable month for Nissan, with the Altima seeing record sales. Ford also benefitted from the competition, selling comparable amount of units of the Ford Fusion. Here are the top five selling cars for the month of March:
t is a surprise that the Ford truck currently tops the list, but it seems that the demand for a Ford truck is on the rise. The F-Series sold more than 67,000 units last month, a 16% increase compared to last March. Ford is also prospering in Europe, with the Fiesta and Fusion models topping the list for most units sold in March.
Another truck takes a top position on the list, selling almost 40,000 units. The Silverado is known to be one of the more affordable trucks on the market, making it more popular amongst consumer on a budget. It even comes in a hybrid model for those looking to “go green.”
The Altima was last month’s chart-topper, but has recently suffered a slight drop in sales. Comparable to the Ford Fusion, it boasts a whopping 270 horsepower, and still retains the top-selling car spot for this year. It sold more than 37,000 units last mont
Boasting a lighter and more fuel efficient style than its predecessor, the Camry maintains a stalwart following. It has power, comfort, and gas mileage to boot, along with a heavy weight in its name. It sold 100 units less than the Altima.
Honda decided to do something a bit different with this year’s model by adding continuously variable transmission, which is integrated in models with the four cylinder engine. This proved to be a popular addition, for it added power and fuel efficiency to the Accord. Honda sold 36,000 of these cars last month.
