List of Maldives Excursions – feel the island magic

Maldives is the most beautiful place to visit with that special someone or a trip with friends. Recently, family vacationing in the Maldives is also growing in popularity. Wondering about exactly what you'll be able to do on a holiday in the Maldives rather than just lazing about in the sun? Here are a few excursions that might just interest you.

1

Diving

You are sure to have the dive of your life in the Maldives. Double check with luxury hotels in Maldives if you will be able to borrow some diving equipment. Don't know how to dive but you still want to? Well, then there is no need to be all sad, most of the resorts here have their diving school where you'll be taking a course for three days before you hit the waters of the ocean. The course will cost about USD 500 and you'll be awarded a PADI certificate too. But be cautious not to dive less than 24 hours before your flight as this can take its toll on your body. This is definitely a must-do activity here in the Maldives as you get to see a magical world of colourful fish, get up close with huge manta rays and even mingle around with the cute reef sharks.

2

Island hopping

Staying at your private luxury villa at resorts like The Nautilus Maldives is all well and good. But you are curious about the culture here, that's not going to teach you anything. Opt for an island-hopping tour where you will be able to interact with the locals and get to know where they live, where they school, what they eat and their thoughts on certain things. The locals are friendly with all smiles that you are sure to feel welcome here.

3

Surf

If you are a surfer itching to hit the waves, then the Maldives offers this too. However, not all resorts have this leisure time activity as not all of them are situated where the swells are great. So, before anything first, inquire with your hotel. The swells on the Indian Ocean are great, they reach a height of shoulder to head and are really long. For those of you who have never tried surfing, the hotel will be able to organise lessons for you with professionals.

4

Snorkelling

If you are not so into diving but still want to see the world underwater, that's possible too. You can just jump into the water from your overwater villa and snorkel your way through the reef! Snorkel equipment can be rented from your local resort. The best part is all resorts offer snorkelling as they are located by or on the reef itself.

5

Meet dolphins and whale sharks

The Maldives is definitely one of the best places for whale shark and dolphin watching. Take a boat tour and set out to sea and soon after, you'll see friendly little dolphins circling your boat and wanting to say hello. You can also swim with them if you like. The sunset on the boat in the middle of the sea with a glass of champagne for some cheer is the icing on the cake to a perfect day.
