Top Things to Take to the Beach – Fun and Memorable Times by the Shore

Stuck in lockdowns and wishing you were at the beach? Well, it's never too early to start planning! Of course, be it on a family holiday, romantic escape or journey of self-discovery, a coastal getaway will require you to bring some key items along to help ensure an unforgettable experience.

1

The Right Clothes

When it comes to clothes or attire for the beach, don't just limit it to swimwear! It always helps to have a checklist and look to also pack cover-ups, rash guards, flip flops, a change of clothes, beach towels and swim diapers for babies. If planning a long beach holiday, having an extra swimsuit will come in handy too.

2

Sun Protection

Time at the beach equals lots of time soaking up the sun and as much fun as that sounds, the last thing you want is to suffer a severe sunburn! With that in mind, make sure you pack a sunscreen with an SPF level of 30 or more and one which provides protection from both UVB and UVA rays. It also helps to have sunhats / caps, sunglasses and long-sleeved attire when the sun is at its peak.

3

Snacks and Water

Be it sunbathing or frolicking on the shore, you are bound to work up an appetite so packing snacks or a picnic lunch as well as water or drinks is a good idea. Having a cooler bag will come in handy for this as well. Of course, if you are staying at beachside resorts the likes of Amethyst Resort Passikudah, food or dining will not be an issue; from spending time at the beach to heading to places to visit in Pasikuda, you can easily enjoy a snack or a full meal before going back out!

4

Beach Mat

Don't forget that while the sensation of sand between your toes is great, your clothes and other items are likely to have lots of sand too! A good beach mat offers a relatively dry space to sit on or enjoy a meal. Of course, you need to find one that is made from a material that does not act as a "sand magnet" and can be easily dusted off too.

5

Beach Bag and Dry Bag

A useful beach bag will be both spacious so that you can pack many of the things you need as well as lightweight. While cloth beach bags are popular, do keep in mind that depending on the material they can get wet easily and filled with sand too. Additionally, it helps to have a dry bag where your valuables including a phone (having a waterproof phone case offers added protection) or a camera can be stored.

6

First Aid Kit

Sometimes with all the fun on the beach, cuts and scrapes can occur and in such instances, it's always good to have a first aid kit; it can have items like an antiseptic solution, waterproof plasters or bandages, cream for sunburns and pills for headaches or migraines. On an added note, make sure to pack plenty of hand sanitiser too!
