Best Coffee Houses in London

I love a good coffee. The anticipation, the aroma and the ambience all help too but its usually the after effects that stay with me that give me the impulse to return to the various caffeine emporiums I frequent.

Here's a list in no particular order (apart from Number 1) of my favourites in London.

Fernandez & Wells

"Fernandez & Wells pulls off the not so easy trick of being warm and intimate, yet pretty cool too."
The secret of their success can be seen by the many others who have copied the "white tile, food & delicacies on parade, understated but effortless, and always hitting the spot (if not the wallet..)
The delivery - it's a triple ristretto, which means they use extra coffee and pull the shot short--taking only the sweetest part of the shot without the acidic flavour at the end of a typical extraction. Which means you get a lovely aromatic brown (never black) caffeine delivery each and every time.
Still number one for me in London.

URBAN TEA ROOMS

A twist on the current euphoria for all things British that has been sweeping the nation long before last year's mighty double header of the Jubilee and the Olympics.
Couple of quirks about this one - the coffee, however, is not British but instead Ethiopian, giving the liquid a smooth and silky texture we have come to expect from African coffee of recent times. Yes there is a broad selection of tea available but its definitely a caffeine-led vibe here all day with some mighty fine morsels on display on the counter-top. Some definite F&W design feature cues for sure but why change a winning formula when the coffee tastes this good?
Alas the original barista has left fpr pastures new so I am missing my daily fix of latte art and accompanying anecdotes.

Monmouth Coffee

Permanently queued from opening to closing time, its not only the aroma from the large coffee bean bags that attracts an electric mix of clientele to this caffeine-infused delight that nests comfortably in the bosom of Borough Market.

Kaffeine

Inspired by the amazing coffee culture in Australia and New Zealand, Kaffeine is an independently owned cafe and espresso bar in Fitzrovia, just 3 minutes from Oxford Circus

Ginger and White

Child friendly coffee shop in Hampstead and newly opened in Soho, they provide artisan espresso coffee british sandwiches salads and a nice line in breakfast.

Speakeasy Espresso & Brew Bar | Speakeasy Espresso & Brew Bar - Quality Cooffee at 3 Lowndes Court, Carnaby, London, ...

Flat White is a champion of the All-day-breakfast and perfect for Brunch. as well as tasty lunch-time offers of sandwiches, baguettes, toasties and our famous bagels & one of the best SMASHED AVO'S on toast this side of the equator.
