5 Adventurous Things to Do in Mozambique – Enjoy the island to the fullest

Off in the continent of Africa is a lovely little place called Mozambique that's ready for travellers to step into and explore. You could either take your loved one by the hand and whisk them off to a romantic getaway or plunge into the excitement that Mozambique has in store for the water babies. Either way here is a few adventures to have during your time here.

1

Scuba Diving

One of the most sought-after tourist activities to indulge in when in Mozambique would be scuba diving. The waters here are nice and warm, thus, they've attracted some amazing species of fish. Mozambique is known for having unspoiled reefs and so has become one of the best places in the world to scuba dive. Kingfish, Moray Eels, Sharks, Barracuda and giant Lobsters are a few species that you'll be able to catch a glimpse of while diving here. If you want to dive deeper, yet are not certified for the task, you could always train for a PADI certificate at one of the many schools here. If you are lodged at hotels like Anantara Medjumbe Island Resort, enquire about the best dive schools if you are planning on attending one.

2

Swim with Wild Dolphins

Dolphins are friendly creatures and many aquamarine lovers seek the opportunity to mingle with these beautiful creatures of the ocean. In Mozambique, swimmers can immerse themselves in the soothing past time of visiting the world of dolphins. Most tourists find that this is a destressing activity. The clear blue waters of Mozambique make this the perfect venue for interaction with humans and dolphins. You will not be sent in alone, researchers who have been studying the creatures for years will be entering the waters as your guide.

3

Ilha de Mozambique

How about a bit of island hopping on your list of things to do? Ilha de Mozambique is a beautiful island that is roughly 500 metres wide and 3 kilometres long. This island is also a UNESCO certified world heritage site and has much to be explored. The highlights would be a chapel, built way back in 1522 and a Stone Fort built in the 16th century. Apart from the historical places on the island, the beaches are a die for as well! Soak in the rays of the bright sun while you lounge on your soft beach towel as the waves sing the song of the ocean to calm your senses. A truly wonderful experience indeed! Need a thrill? Try a surf or your favourite water sports here. The island is one of the most loved places to visit in Mozambique.

4

A dhow ride

The best part about Mozambique is that visitors have the opportunity to sail across the waters of the sea on a Dhow. What's a Dhow? This is a traditional boat and oldest form of boat used here. It's an all-round experience that awaits you here. The whole experience has a romantic air to it as well.

5

Maputo Elephants Board

Enter an untouched region of the forest in Mozambique with exotic wildlife to be observed! The elephants' home is also part of the Lubombo Transfrontier Conservation Area which is part of the National Parks of South Africa. About 200 elephants travel in herds around this piece of the jungle while visitors are allowed to drive through mangroves and grasslands. Close encounters with these creatures are also possible.
