Empathy is such a crucial component when it comes to interacting with other people – and for an intelligent agent designed to interact with us, it becomes even more so.
Our team utilizes these 5 principles (and more) to design agents that embody, and even evoke, certain aspects of empathy to achieve successful human-agent interaction.

Cognition and Context
The agent should be able to understand context behind its user and environment, for a more effective, meaningful experience.
Additionally, the agent should be able to communicate with its user nonverbally, through movement and otherwise, making the interaction feel more natural and effortless.
The agent should also ask the right questions to pique the user's interest, so that they feel more comfortable opening up to the agent, both initially and over time.
