7 reasons to visit Manila – The city with big things to offer

When it comes to the best place to visit in the Philippines, of course, its no doubt that the delightful capital city of Manila takes the spotlight. With some amazing things to see and do, Manila invites travellers to venture out and make their trip to the Philippines the vacation of their dreams. Here are a few reasons why you should be visiting.

1

Sunsets

Overlooking the west seas, Manila city has some of the most beautiful, breath-taking sunsets ever! The tufts of cotton-like clouds tinted in the mesmerising oranges and pinks of the setting sun are pleasing to the eye. Thus, the sunsets here are perfect for some pictures if you are a photography enthusiast.

2

Coconut Palace

A palace built with natural materials like coconuts and other things is sure to blow your mind. It is also not the vice-president's dwelling. Despite the humble materials with which it was put together, the Coconut Palace is a luxurious spot. D-list celebrities have been invited for stays here. For tours of this great palace, you'll need to book at least a week in advance through the vice-president's office.

3

Jeepneys

If you see small jeeps in bright colours storming past you on the road, that's completely normal in Manila. These jeeps are decorated with either religious or pollical items. The routes they take though are a bit confusing and you might not end up at your intended destination. Still, hopping onto one of them could be a lot of fun.

4

Karaoke

Do you love to sing and are you light-spirited and love to have some fun? Hit the karaoke spots by evening and sing your woes away. The hot beats for the day will be listed at the joint you go to. Grab that mic and get singing already. Step out of your apartment in hotels like Somerset Millennium Makati and have some fun.

5

Carlos Celdran

Take a theatrical approach to Manila and witness the stories of the past come to life once again on stage with Carlos Celdran. Taking you through it all right from the rule of the Spaniards to the takeover by the Japanese the performance says it all, not only is it serious, but the performances are funny and horrific at the same time as well.

6

San Agustin Church

Standing from as long ago as the 16th century, this is one of the oldest churches in the country and this type of architecture cannot be found anywhere else in Asia. Some exhibits tell the stories of the past of Spain's religious beliefs which are quite interesting. Not to mention, the opulently decorated shrines within the premises are great!

7

Mall-hopping

Shopping is one of the most loved activities among locals in Manila. Guess that would explain one of the biggest shopping malls called Mall of Asia complete with an IMAX theatre and an Olympic sized ice rink for skating! If you are after luxury brands though, you'll find what you are looking for at the Greenbelt Mall in Makati located close to many a hotel apartment in Manila.
