Regardless of what you are looking for, everyone loves to go shopping in Malaysia especially off the Singaporean border at Johor Bahru which is home to some of the coolest and savviest shopping malls in the country. Whatever you are looking for, here is where you can find it.

City Square Johor Bahru

The City Square Mall is all about convenience. As soon as you walk out of Immigration at the Johor Bahru customs it will be the first shopping mall that you will see. It is also very popular among both locals and tourists that visit Malaysia for retail therapy. But it isn't the shopping that people come here for, it is mostly the convenience of location and to get something delicious to eat and maybe go to the cinema to catch a movie.

KSL Mall and Holiday Plaza JB

Staying at a Johor hotel will bring you to the very heart of the shopping paradise that this city has slowly become. KSL City Mall is another of those famous malls you can find yourself in a mere ten-minute drive from customs. It is a gigantic shopping mall. It is the best place to go if you are shopping for souvenirs and stocking fillers for your family and friends back home.

Since you are in the area, also drop into Holiday Plaza JB if you are looking for cheap haircuts, massages and a quick manicure. Then it's on to your hotel the likes of Berjaya Waterfront Hotel.

Paradigm Mall Johor Bahru

Established in 2017, the Paradigm Mall is new and frequented by day-trippers. There are lots of people milling about this shopping mall at all hours, but it never feels like it, because it is so big. Paradigm is the place to go if you are looking for home and furnishing items. There is a HomePro, Harvey Norman's, Kaison and Akemuchi among big named brands for bedding, décor and appliances. There's even a Toys R Us so you can bet the kids would love to visit.

Apart from the shopping, you will find the mall is popular for indoor rock climbing and an ice-skating rink.

The Mall Mid Valley Southkey

The newest on this list, only having opened its doors in 2019, the Mall, Mid Valley Southkey is huge! You could walk through it all day and still not find the end. It is home to the flagship Japanese store Sogo as well as high scale brands like Muji, Kate Spade and JD Sports. There is a Japanese Family Mart and DIN by Din Tai Fung – minus the pork!

Ikea + Toppen JB and Aeon Tebrau City

In Trebau is located Ikea Malaysia's biggest outlet which officially opened alongside the Toppen JB mall in November 2019. It is slowly filling up with stores like gourmet supermarket Ben's Independent Grocer and other such high-quality flagship stores. If you can't find what you are looking for here, you can always pop by next door to the Aeon Mall that is a minimal fussy and well-stocked shopping mall.
