Top 5 Things to Do with Kids in Sunshine Coast – Have Fun in the Sun

The Sunshine Coast is a spectacular holiday destination that evokes a sense of cheer and nostalgia. The radiant beaches and picturesque landscapes are brimming with activities for you to enjoy with the whole family. Here are the top 5 things to do with your kids while here.

1

Explore Nature

There are quite a number of scenic waterfall spots around the Sunshine Coast, but none can top the natural beauty of Kondalilla Falls. In order to get this location, you'll need to go on a short hike with the kids for about 2km. Along the way, you'll be treated to the fantastic view of rolling green hills in the distance. Once you get to the falls, you can even have a charming little picnic surrounded by the tranquil sights and sounds of nature. As the sun begins to rise and the heat starts to crank up, why not cool off at the base of a waterfall – kids will surely love that part.

2

Swim in an Ocean Pool

Speaking of swimming, why not let the kids cool off in a sparkling pool at the very edge of the Pacific Ocean? If you're staying at one of the major Alexandra Headlands hotel or resort establishments – such as the Oaks Sunshine Coast Seaforth Resort – getting to this little gem is easy. Once you have the kids all strapped in, all you have to do is drive to King's beach – which is around 25 minutes away – and then walk along the beach till you reach the pools. And don't worry, you'll know it when you see it!

3

Relax by the Lake

Sometimes, the best family time is a quiet and calm day out in the sun. Well, if you're in the mood for that, just head on over to Lake Currimundi – a hidden natural water park found behind the popular Caloundra surf beach. The vicinity is a nice change of pace from the heat and noise of the beach. The kids can swim around the lakes crystal clear waters and even float along with the current towards the beach!

4

Take in the Scenery

The Craincross reserve is a lush stretch of tropical rainforest that offers a great view of the distant Glass House Mountains. This is a great place to visit with the kids if you're feeling adventurous and want to break a sweat. The great green fields that exist between the pockets of forests are a treat to play around and have fun in. Remember to keep your eyes peeled while out here too as a small species of wallaby inhabit the reserve. These cute little marsupials are naturally curious and can make for an exciting sighting.

5

Hit the Beach

Of course, no trip to the Sunshine Coast would be complete without hitting up its famous beaches. There is quite a number of coastal strips to choose from as well, but Point Cartwright is probably the best one to bring your kids to. Here the waters are calm and the wind remains a gentle breeze – it's perfect for a fun day out in the sun.
