5 Great Adventures to Experience in Yunnan -The new highlight in China

Being an up and coming travel destination in China, Yunnan has many things to offer to its travellers. Here are a few things you can do during your next trip to Yunnan.

1

Hiking

Right in the middle of the Golden Sand River, you will find the Tiger Leaping Rock. The Rock got its name because, according to legends and old myths, a hunter was chasing a tiger through this area many years ago. The story says that the tiger covered this place by hopping on the rock and therefore the name emerged. This place is about 15 kilometres in length and at the peak has a maximum depth of about 4,000 metres.

2

Overnight Adventures

You can opt to do the hike and camp for a day or even make it a three to four-day adventure. Most people opt to do a 2 today hike in this area. If you are staying at a Green Lake Hotel in Kunming the likes of Grand Park Kunming, this lake area is a taxi ride away. You do not have to be an experienced hiker to attempt this adventure in China.

Yuanyang Rice Terrace

If you did your research before your trip to this part of the world, you will know that some of the most scenic views in Asia can be had when you visit a rice terrace or a rice field. The difference between a rice terrace and field is that a field is flat land and stretches out for metres on the same ground level. On the other hand, a rice terrace will be like a step-down and is usually found in the mountains. The best time to visit these rice terraces is during the month of December to March. At this time of the year these rice paddies will be filled with water by the natives in the area and will give you a really amazing backdrop take pictures of, especially during the sunrise and sunset.

Mingle With The Natives

When you are out and about exploring in the mountains, take some time to explore the villages and meet the children playing in the fields. You will also encounter many of the native wildlife while you are exploring the area. This will be a fun way to experience the authentic side of China and also learn a lot about the local culture and the stories behind how they were formed as communities.
