These are my favorite technology idea for my future classroom.
ClassDoJo is a website that helps teachers and students keep track of the progress through animated monsters. I would use this in my future classroom to help show my class how they are performing during the day and keep attendance. A benefit of this that the students will be excited to see the different pop-up marks on the little monster characters. A barrier is that it might be distracting to some students. It substitutes for writing attendance down on paper. This is creative because students can design their own monster. I think this is teacher-centered. It is made for teachers to help keep track of their students.
Kahoot is a website. It is used to quiz students on topics they learn in the classroom. It is a fun interactive way to get students involved and excited to learn. I would use this to quiz my students on topics we learn in the classroom. I would put my students into groups and have the Kahoot be a group activity. I would do this activity once a week with my students. I think the benefit of using Kahoot is that your students will be involved in the lesson. It will be fun for your students. A barrier is that is could be distracting for students. They could get off topic and it could create a lot of noise. It modifies learning because it gets students engaged in the topics they learn. It has redefinition because students can teach each other by making their own Kahoots. Students can communicate with each other is groups to answer the questions to the Kahoot. Students have to use critical thinking in order to answer the questions in the Kahoot. It allows students to collaborate with one another during the games. I believe that Kahoot is both teacher and student-centered. Students get to learn in a fun and interactive way. Teachers get to see what students need help with and what subjects they need to work on.
Brainpop would be listed as #10 on my list. I find it very useful, but I find other technology more useful. Brainpop is a website where you can watch short videos and then students can answer questions at the end of the video. The benefit of Brainpop is that it is an interactive and fun way for students to learn . A barrier is that it can sometimes be distracting and your students may not learn as much. For SAMR I believe it substitutes. Students can watch videos instead of reading a book on the topic. It is also augmentation because it improves the way students learn. for the 4 C's I believe the website is creative because of the artwork. It involves critical thinking because students have to think while answering the questions.
This is a platform where teachers can upload interactive lessons for their students. They have full control over their students devices during the time they use Nearpod. I would use this to give a lesson on planets in my future classroom. The benefit Nearpod is that teachers have complete control over the interactive lesson. The barrier is that some students may not have a device to do the interactive lesson on. For SAMR I believe it substitutes for normal lesson. For redefinition, students get to learn in a fun new way. I believe that it is creative because teachers get to create fun interactive lessons. I also believe that it has critical thinking because teachers can ask students questions and students can answer questions through Nearpod. I believe that this is teacher centered because the teachers get to make lessons to share with their students.
Gonoodle is a website that has games and interactive short activities for students. I would use this for a break in between classes to keep my students smiling. It would be like an award for them. A benefit is that it is a fun interactive way for students to learn. A barrier is that it could be a distraction for some students. For SAMR I believe it is Augmentation. It makes learning more interactive and fun for students. It is creative because of it being a fun way for students to learn. It is students centered because the interactive activities are made for the students.
Funbrain is a website that has fun educational games for students to play online. I would use this In my future classroom for math games. I would have my students play math games to better learn their math facts. A benefit of Funbrain is that students will believe they are playing a game, but they are also learning. A barrier is that it could be distracting for some students. It can substitute for paper flashcards for students learning math facts. It is creative because it's a new way for students to learn. It also involves critical thinking because the students have to answer questions while playing these games. I believe that this website is student-centered. The games are made for the students.
Merge cube is a learning enhancement tool. You can download an app and hold the phone to the cube. It can show your students all types of new facts depending on the app you choose. I would use this tool to teach my students about the human body. A benefit is that it is an interactive way for students to have new lessons. A barrier might be that it is distracting for some students. It can substitute for a normal lesson. For Augmentation, it is a fun new way for students to interact. This is creative because students can create new things with the app on their merge cube. It involves collaboration because students can share the cubes and work together in small groups. This tool is student-centered. It is made for students to learn on.
Flipgrid is an app that teachers set up that allows students to make short videos and respond to one another through the app. In my future classroom I would have students post videos of their book reports on this app. A barrier is that some kids may not be able to get access to the app when not in school. A benefit is that teachers can go back and watch the videos that students have posted. They can go back and see what students need more help on. For SAMR I believe that it involves modification. It modifies how children present their work in class. Students can communicate with videos to help one another. They also get to be creative while making their videos. Students also get to collaborate with each other when they answer each others videos.
Flocabulary is a website where you can pick a topic or vocab word and the website makes a song that involves that topic. I would use this technology to teach my students about nutrition and how to stay healthy. A benefit is that it is a fun way for students to learn. A barrier is that it could be distracting for some students. In SAMR it can substitute for note cards. For redefinition, it is a new and exciting way for students to learn new topics. I believe that this website is creative because each rap is different. I also believe it involves critical thinking because students need to learn the songs and remember them.
Quizlet is a review/study tool that allows teachers and students to create and share flashcards. This makes it so you can go back a review the material at a later time. A benefit is it can be private or public. It’s offers quizzes, mix, and match flashcards, and short response questions that can help you study. A barrier is it can be used to cheat. It substitutes for paper flashcards and modifies how people study. It is creative because you can make your own flashcards. It involves critical thinking because students can answer the questions that they can make for their quizzes. It allows students to collaborate because they can share the quizlets with their classmates so they can study. This is a student and teacher-centered. Students can use the app to study. Teachers can make quizlets for their students to study.
