Your honeymoon will set the tone for the rest of your married life. So, it has to be a memorable few weeks. Here's why you should consider the Maldives to be your honeymoon destination.
It's going to be absolutely magical. A honeymoon spent in the Maldives entails overwater villas, luxurious spa treatments, romantic dinners and cruises. The sea is a big part of the Maldives, and so it is going to be an inherent part of your honeymoon too. There can be nothing more romantic than spending an evening at a white powdery beach watching the sunset. What's more, Maldives island resorts are a specimen of fine accommodation; an example of such Maldivian accommodation option is Huvafen Fushi Maldives.
Couples choose the Maldives to be their honeymoon destination for it has islands that are quite paradisiacal; these islands are something out of a picture book. The crystal-clear waters of the ocean, the beaches, the lagoons and the palm trees make for a perfect retreat from the real world. In the morning, when you wake up and pull aside the blinds in your overwater bungalow, you will be looking out into the captivating vista of the rising sun and the ocean. The balmy temperature is absolutely wonderful, and endless sunshine means lounging at beaches.
Maldives is a destination where you can relax. The chill-out atmosphere is perfect for reading a book while lounging at the beach. While you can relax all you want, if you are more of a thrill-seeker, there is an array of activities you can enjoy. Water sports like scuba diving and snorkelling are popular pastimes in the Maldives. The sea is an integral part of the Maldivian life, so, most of the activities are going to be associated with the sea. The Maldivian marine life is wonderfully diverse and enchanting. On a snorkelling trip, you can discover many forms of marine life – you'll find that manta rays and whale sharks are frequent greeters. As for land-based activities, you can try island-hopping; this is the best way to get a sense of local life. Seeing as you are on your honeymoon, indulging in spa treatment is a must– several resorts offer overwater spa treatments accompanied by amazing sea views.
The local cuisine is incredibly delicious, and the main component is fish. However, eateries in the Maldives offer international food varieties as well. You are most likely to get buffet-style meals packed with exotic fruit, vegetables, fish, smoothies, coconut water and alcoholic drinks – keep in mind that you cannot drink outside the perimeters of your resort.
This is a unique experience to be had in the Maldives. Swimming with the whale sharks is going to constitute the best moments in your life. These whale sharks are massive creatures who are entirely harmless. They are used to humans, so swimming alongside them is possible. However, you need to be at the top of your game if you want to keep up with them; they are excellent swimmers. Though they are innocent creatures, their size can be a little intimidating, so, you need to prepare yourself to face some of the largest creatures in the sea.
The country has a very friendly attitude towards tourists. However, you are expected to conform to some of the local norms. Drinking alcohol in public places is prohibited, so is wearing swimsuits at public beaches. Women are expected dress modestly, and you cannot have pork-related food items or alcohol in your procession.
