Many celebrities celebrate the new gun control laws, condemning the NRA for being too supportive of firearm possession. However, there are several celebrities that are members of that same organization, who voice their opinion that responsible people should have the right to bear arms to keep themselves safe. Here’s a list of gun-toting celebrities that may surprise you.
The former Utah Jazz player has been a member of the NRA for many years and has been an advocate for guns on television. He traces his passion of guns back to his childhood in Louisiana, where he spent most of his days hunting. When asked about new gun control laws that may revise the second amendment, Malone said “You can take away a lot of things from Karl Malone, but his guns, that’s not one of them.”
Although a member of the NRA, Jones prefers to stay away from the limelight of absolute freedom to bear arms. Unlike Charlton Heston who was the “voice of the NRA,” Jones is content to have a gun in his house to keep himself safe. He disassociates himself with all of the politics of the NRA.
An avid gun collector, Selleck has been an advocate for firearms possession for many years. He is even a board member for the NRA. When he was a guest on the Rosie O’Donnell show, she confronted him about his support for guns, but she later apologized for accusing him. Many of his guns from the movies are in the National Firearms Museum.
Whoopi surprised audiences by revealing her membership in the NRA during an episode of The View. She still advocates some aspects of gun control, but she admits that she enjoys her right to bear arms. During the interview, she was asked if she was “packing heat,” to which she replied “You don’t want to find out.”
Chuck Norris is the epitome of the classic American action hero, which is why it is no surprise that he is a member of the NRA. He has appeared in several NRA television ads, and advocates firearm possession often.
