Best Beaches in Qatar - Top Beaches to Experience in Qatar

While many travellers may not think of Qatar as a beach holiday hub, the country is lined with some of the best beaches in the region. Here's a rundown of some of the finest beaches in Qatar.

1

Fuwairit Beach

Regarded as one of the best beaches to enjoy during a weekday when it's mostly empty, the white sands and the clear waters of Fuwairit Beach set it apart from similar beaches in Qatar. The lack of street food vendors or seaside food carts is a welcome sight at this tranquil beach where must rather pack a picnic for oneself instead. Ideal for working on one's tan and swimming activities, families heading to Fuwairit Beach should make it a point to visit the Hawksbill sea turtle hatching site is they are visiting during the right season. The area where hatchlings are found is barricaded off so it is easy to spot in this beach located 2.5 hours away from Doha.

2

AlAl Dhakira Beach

Situated in an area where the most expansive mangrove reserve in all of Qatar is found, AlAl Dhakira Beach is the perfect beach hub for fishing activities and kayaking. The beach is also a favourite haunt for those who love to barbeque and grill in the company of friends and family. Spacious and free from large crowds, locals often organize games and other sporting activities on the beach.

3

Simaisma Family Beach

As one of the newest beaches to open to the public in Qatar, Simaisma Family Beach is perhaps the most conveniently located beach in the country as it is less than half an hour away from Doha. The clean beach is still somewhat of a novelty so it is free from tourists and large numbers of local revellers. It is also one of the safest beaches in Qatar. Those based at Souq Al Wakra Hotel Qatar by Tivoli or any of the many best hotels in Qatar will find that the beach is within close range of their hotel.

4

lAl Khor Family Beach

Another family oriented beach, the AlAl Khor Family Beach is fully equipped to cater to visitors with children of all ages. Barbeques are set up at one end of the beach while showers and bathrooms are also on-site for those who wish to enjoy a swim. Surrounded by a grassy knoll, the beach is one of the few places in Qatar where one can truly unwind. Travellers who are tea and karak enthusiasts can head to the nearby Tea Time and sip a cuppa after a swim. The AlAl Khor Family Beach is 45 minutes from Qatar's capital.

5

Zekreet Beach

Although Zekreet is best known for the iconic rock formations that dot its landscape as well as the Richard Serra Art Piece in the heart of the desert, beach lovers head to this area for its breathtaking blue beach. As a less busy beach hotspot bereft of large crowds, the beach is also a popular camping venue which is located 50 minutes from the capital of Qatar.

6

Wakrah Beach

Another beach fringed by mangroves, Wakrah Beach is perhaps better known as a fish spa locale than a beach holiday destination. The beach has a designated region for families and goes so far as to ban those who are not travelling with family from spending time at the venue due to its status as a family only beach. With some of Qatar's finest seaside restaurants and shops also lining the shores, Wakrah Beach is a one stop activity hub 30 minutes from Doha.
