The archaeological site of Knossos is located 5 kilometers southern-east of Heraklion and is one of the most famous touristic places of Greece. It was the greatest town of the Minoan Civilization and was also the seat of the legendary King Minos. Several fascinating myths are associated with the palace of Knossos, such as the Minotaur with the Labyrinth, and Daedalus with Icarus.
