There are plenty of things to do in Hoi An but while you're in the area it's highly recommended you go for a day visit at least to nearby Danang. It is one of the largest cities in Vietnam and has radically modernised in recent times. There is so much to discover and experience in Danang from the hip young locals to the hidden gems such as the Dragon Bride and Cao Dai Temple. But just strolling around the city you can get a feel of how the old and new merge and what this city once was and what it is becoming it does bring even a visitor from the other end of the earth a vague sense of nostalgia.
