Thailand is blessed with some of the best beaches. There are so many, it is a bit difficult to decide which ones to visit. If you are struggling to plan your itinerary, here's a little help.
Found in Phuket, Patong Beach is the largest beach on the island and the most popular one. Numerous hotels and restaurants entertain those who visit the beach. With all the shopping opportunities and the vibrant nightlife, there's no chance for you to feel bored. The wide coastline means lounging in the sand, and the warm waters of the ocean are inviting to swimmers. Though Patong Beach is one of the most charming beaches you find in Thailand, it is far from peaceful.
The beach is located on the mainland, but the only way of getting there is by boat. Railay Beach doesn't get as busy as Patong Beach, and it has a laid-back atmosphere. With small islands on the horizon and limestone cliffs, the beach fares to be quite picturesque. The rocky landscape enables climbing, and there are schools that teach the rudiments of belaying and climbing. Snorkellers and swimmers visit the beach in search of the great visibility rendered by the clear blue water. Those who want relaxation are offered just what they are looking for.
As the name suggests, the beach is indeed long. A decade ago, Long Beach was a backpackers' paradise, but it's changed, and now, the beach is more suited for family getaways. The rocky landscape found on the other beaches isn't found here, but the soft sand bottom makes it perfect for swimming. Many restaurants found on the beach serve delicious bits of Thai cuisine, and come nightfall, the beach turns into one big party.
The beach is popular among both tourists and locals. There are plenty of things to do at Hua Hin Beach, at a resort Hua Hin, you can indulge yourself in a Thai spa treatment. The beach isn't ideal for swimming, but there are other things to keep you occupied, and golfing is one of them. The place is also sufficiently facilitated by the likes of Avani+ Hua Hin Resort.
South of Karon Beach, and within paces from Patong Beach is Kata Beach. Compared to its neighbours, this beach is much quieter and peaceful. Kata Beach has everything you could possibly wish for while on holiday. The warm weather, palm trees and lovely scenery create the setting for an excellent tropical holiday. There isn't much opportunity for shopping, but there are several resorts offering great accommodation. This is an excellent snorkelling site, the dive shops around the beach rent snorkel gear.
Koh Samui beaches are usually the busiest, but Lamai Beach is quite different. The place gets a little crowded, but not up to the point where you get no respite from the streaming crowds. The turquoise water of the ocean and the palm trees make Lamai Beach a veritable paradise. While you are at the beach, spare some time for a bit of exploring, to this end, you can rent a motorbike. The fishing village found south of the beach is a must-visit.
The beach is set against the backdrop of sloping hills, and the palm trees and coconut trees dot the white, powdery expanse of sand. Ten years ago, it was backpackers who frequent the beach, but now it is turning into a fashionable resort area. All over the beach are several resorts and places offering evening buffets. But the northern side of the beach still retains the tell-tales of the old charm.
