For Anne Marie Pegg, International Women's Day was a day much like any other day. A doctor with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), Pegg is serving people affected by the conflict at a trauma hospital in Syria and spent the day taking care of a wide variety of medical needs.

There's one aspect of the new Facebook timelines for pages that I haven't seen covered that I believe is important. It's what is now referred to as "Posts by Others." On the original Facebook pages, people could write on your page's wall. Allowing them to do so was part of what made your page social and demonstrated engagement.
I'm seeing an upsurge in special event social media accounts-especially on Twitter. Every time I see one, I just shake my head. I can understand the thinking that it's a helpful way to promote a special event but in most cases, it's an example of traditional marketing thinking applied to a social space.
I admit it. Search engine optimization works. While I've never doubted the effectiveness of search engine optimization, better known as SEO, I have downplayed it.
