Perhaps the most famous of all the Sultan Qaboos mosques, this mammoth place of worship was constructed in 2001. As one of Muscat's most prominent landmarks, some of the most breathtaking features of the venue include its exquisite minarets, engraved walls, its massive golden dome and the impressive crystal chandelier decorating its main hall.
As the best reason to spend a day in Muttrah, the city's name sake souq is a local market of truly grand proportions. Occupying pride of place in the Muttrah Corniche, the thoroughfare is lined with stalls and shops selling everything from gold jewellery and silver accessories to clothes, fabrics and handicrafts. As one of the most photogenic part of Muscat, the Muttrah Souq is a shutter bug's dream.
Occupying the northern reaches of the country, Musandam is home to some of the most picturesque beaches in Musandam. The white sanded beaches are fringed with turquoise waters to create the perfect atmosphere for a beach getaway. One of the area's most popular beaches include Khassab beach.
Also known as the Green Mountain, Jebel Akhdar is Oman's best destination for hikers and nature lovers. Visitors can explore the verdant landscapes of this towering mountain located in Al Dakhliya with a hiking excursion or a nature walk among the many trails scattered around the area. Those based at Alila Jabal Akhdar or any other Oman luxury hotels in the area will find the mountain is within close range of their accommodation provider.
Having opened its doors to the public as recently as 2016, the National Museum remains the country's leading cultural institution to date. Exploring Oman's complex history with an impressive collection of relics and artefacts, the 13700 square meter space is a culture buff dream come true. Some of the most interesting galleries in the museum include the Splendours of Islam gallery and the Renaissance gallery while the Prehistory and Ancient History enclave is equally engaging.
As Oman's largest island, no holiday in the desert nation would be complete without a stopover at this east coast paradise. Surrounded by the ocean in every direction, the island is best known as a hub for ship manufacture while the island's textile and angling industry also serve as livelihoods for locals.
Located near the capital Muscat, in the eastern fringes of Oman lies the Dabab Sinkhole. As a natural wonder, the stunning location consists of crystal clear blue hued waters that are encircled by rock formations.
As the second biggest cave chamber on the planet, Majlis Al Jinn is no ordinary attraction in Oman. With an altitude of 1380m, the cave is accessible through a series of holes found at the top of the cave.
