5 water-based activities that you must try in Maldives- Dive into a world of thrill and wonder

The Maldives is well-known around the world for its perfect sunsets, white beaches and deep blue oceans that surround each island. Amongst all the relaxing, there are those who may enjoy something a bit more exhilarating, and what better way to get your heart rate up than with some water sports!

1

Scuba Diving

What better way to escape the stress and clamour than by diving deep into an oceanic world where nothing matters but the glistening fish of brilliant hues and the shimmering of the sun. Scuba diving is the perfect option for those looking for a deeply transcendent and relaxing water-based experience. Thankfully, many hotels provide this service along with training classes for those who wish to join in on the experience. Once, you are ready, you will be able to swim along and enjoy the abundant underwater animal life amongst rays, turtles, sharks and eels as they glide by.

2

Snorkelling

If you do not have the time to get the training in to completely immerse yourself in scuba diving or you simply wish for a more subdued experience then snorkelling is certainly an alternative that may be used to ease into this new experience. When you are in the Maldives, things to do will certainly include snorkelling as almost all Maldivian resorts will have the equipment and gear needed to swim along the surface of the water. A tip would be to bring along a waterproof camera so that you may preserve some memories of the amazing things you witness when you look into the ocean!

3

Kayaking

A perfect activity for those looking to explore the area around the island. Coming in several variations, kayaks built for one or two people is the perfect mix for adventure, exploration and some exercise. If you are lucky your hotel may even have transparent kayaks that will allow you to watch as the marine life swims by you when you paddle through the water. Be aware of sunburn however and do not forget to bring your own sunscreen and a hat to protect you from the heat.

4

Jet Skiing

What better way to brighten up the day that to rush through the water at near breakneck speeds! It's a perfect choice for those who prefer adrenaline sports and the jet skis are typically available for rental at resorts like Finolhu Baa Atoll Maldives. So, get a few friends together and take them for a spin as you zip over the water.

5

Underwater Walking

A brilliant new activity that is gaining in popularity is underwater walking. It is very much like it sounds! People are strapped with a special sealed oxygen mask and then descend into the water to go for a walk. While it may seem a bit unusual and you would not be able to go as deep as when you would be scuba diving, this is a safe and secure way for someone to build up to a deeper dive and it suits people of all ages so the entire family can enjoy this eye opening experience.
