Tom Yum Goong

Tom Yum Goong is the national dish of Thailand and a memorable one at that. The aroma allows you to feast with your sense of smell before you can tantalise your taste buds. The two main ingredients of the dish are jumbo prawns and mushrooms and have a distinctive hot and sour taste to it which leaves a delightful after-taste.

Pad Thai

Pad Thai has become an international dish due to its popularity and can now be found in many parts across the world. Although the dish is made in many different ways some of the basic must-have ingredients are tofu, bean sprouts, beancurd, onions and peanuts either whole or crushed. Pad Thai is a heavy meal and is mostly had for dinner. Depending on the restaurant you can request different meat and seafood toppings which can be selected as per your liking.

Kuay Tiew

Kuay Tiew which is commonly known as noodle soup is undoubtedly the most popular dish in Thailand and the best part about the dish is that each time you try it, the dish is bound to be different. The ingredients, spices and the taste are bound to differ even though the dish is the same.

Som Tam

The sweet and sour papaya dish is a must-try dish when in Thailand. Due to its popularity, you can now find it in all locations across Thailand and each state has a different approach to it. In Phuket, the Som Tam is a little less spicy and sweeter. You can eat it on its own but is best enjoyed when you combine with steamed rice.

Gai Med Ma Muang

This is one dish you will come across in street food carts, restaurants, pubs and restaurants with fine dining. Thailand is known to grow some of the best cashew nuts so this dish is extremely popular is a delightful dish to eat any time during the day.

Geng Kheaw Wan Gai

Geng Kheaw Wan Gai stands for green curry chicken which is made with a combination of other ingredients including eggplant, bamboo shoots and lemongrass. The thick coconut broth is rather sweet but is flavoured with green chilli making it spicey but sweet and is a perfect side dish for steamed rice, noodles or even flatbread. Restaurants such as Benihana Thailand is known to serve a delightful Green Chicken Curry in Phuket.

Tom Kha Gai

The Tom Kha Gai is not necessarily for those who like spicy food as the main ingredient in the dish is steamed chicken in a sweet and thick coconut sauce. Similar to most Thai dishes this is eaten with a side of steamed rice which allows you to enjoy the flavours of the curry.

Kao Phad

The rice is a wholesome meal as it will contain rice, seafood, chicken, pork and sometimes even beef depending on the restaurant along with dices vegetables all brought together with a great mix of spices and sauce. The dish is served with spicy chutney on the side in case you like it spicey.
