Chief Operating Officer:
The COO will oversee much of Sunshine’s business operations and report directly to the President/CEO. Sunshine is an inclusive, diverse, respective, and welcoming environment of all people from different backgrounds. A candidate should possess prior professional experience that demonstrates both depth and breadth in managing various parts of business planning and operations. JOB DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Reports to the CEO for the oversight and efficient operation of all organizational goals for success.
- Review and negotiate contracts or agreements to present to the CEO for approval and execution
- Lead and oversee multiple departments as assigned by the CEO
- Collaborate with CEO and other departments to reduce costs, enhance program outcomes and support Sunshine’s mission and values.
- Provide stability and structural support to all facets of operations while improving internal processes and systems.
- Works collaboratively with other agency departments, understands organizational processes, how they relate and how they impact work efficiency and effectiveness. Regularly reviews processes impacting organizational efficiency to ensure continued importance. Identifies opportunities to improve organizational process and oversees change initiative.
- Develops an organizational data set to continually assess effectiveness of service delivery. Works with program managers to establish continuous quality improvement standards of operating.
Works collaboratively with Chief Program Officer to:
o Review compliance data to determine needed quality improvements
o Determine strategies for improving efficiency of workloads
o Analyze financial data to determine ways to improve program sustainability
o Plan new service and initiatives and support implementation from feasibility study through planning, implementation and stabilization
Works collaboratively with Chief Financial Officer and Chief Program Officer to improve understanding of finances by program managers and how operational decisions impact results.
- Works collaboratively with Vice President, Human Resources and Chief Program Officer to review efficiency of staff development on an ongoing basis, providing feedback to directors, managers and scheduling.
- Oversees new services development from feasibility study through planning, implementation and stabilization. Works with Chief Program Officer on implementation of new or expanded services.
Manages the corporate integrity program (and Compliance Office) including the following areas:
o Overseeing licensure and certification: facilitating visits, sharing results, taking corrective action, changing organizational policy as needed.
Supports the executive and leadership teams in deciding what actions to take, and establishing priorities.
- Serves as staff representative to Board of Directors for Sunshine Communities.
- Networks with community partners to establish positive community relations
- Promotes a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and commitment to quality.
- Mentors and develops staff using a supportive and collaborative approach; assign accountabilities; set objectives; establish priorities; and monitor and evaluate results.
- Provides executive leadership on new programs, operations, projects, policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by the CEO
REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s degree in Business or equivalent preferred; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior operation or management in an executive leadership role of a non-profit organization is preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
- Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts and have general finance and budgeting knowledge.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with severe abstracts and concrete variables.
- A valid driver’s license and active auto insurance and the ability to travel to all of Sunshine’s current and future locations and travel to various meetings, seminars, networking and other business locations.
