The bimini top is an emerging feature on new boats. Despite their functionality, some people do not see the benefits of having a bimini top on their boat. So, why bother? Here are a few reasons why a bimini top is an excellent choice for the casual boater.
A bimini acts like an awning. It is essentially a canopy that covers a significant area of the boat, shading the people underneath. It significantly reduces heat, and protects from UV rays on a hot summer day.
Sometimes while out on the lake, a rainstorm will come out of nowhere. There is nothing more miserable than trying to blast back to the dock while the boat is rocking on the white caps and getting soaked from the rain. Having that cover in that situation can make a world of difference.
A surprising amount of boaters are not into extreme watersports, which means that most of them don’t really need a tower. A boater who prefers to cruise in the open water will be much more content with a comfortable cover over their head.
At the end of the day, boaters take their boats into the slips and throw on the boat covers. Those with the bimini tops keep them erect, adding even more protection for the boat during a rain storm.
Many bimini tops come integrated into the towers of boats, allowing for a more versatile boating experience. If the kids want to play on the lake, the cover can collapse for easy use of the tower. If it’s just the adults, the cover can come out again for an quiet morning on the water.
