It is no surprise that Sri Lanka is one of the most sought after travel destinations in the world as there are so many unique and stunning things to do and see in this small paradise island.

Temple of Tooth Relic

The Temple of Tooth Relic which is more commonly known as the Dalada Maligawa is undoubtedly the most visited and most sought after tourist location in Sri Lanka. It is not only where the sacred tooth of Lord Buddha kept, but the building which is now a temple was the kingdom or palace of the last king of the Kandyan era, Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe who reigned Sri Lanka before the British overruled the country.

Sigiriya

Sigiriya is yet another astounding creation in Sri Lankan history as it was the kingdom of King Kasyapa who built the rock fortress for himself and his army in order to protect themselves from being an easy target of his foes. The infrastructure and the irrigation are known to be of extremely developed stages when compared to the era the rock fortress was constructed. Made out of a solid rock there are several stair cases, the front half of a seated lion and several other carvings that are mind blowing. Those who have been to Sigiriya call it the 8th wonder of the world.

Negombo

The Negombo town which out its place on the map as a fishing village has developed and come a long way since the time it was just a fishing village. Even though there are many who still depend on this industry to provide for their families Negombo has also become an attractive tourist destination due to the fishing village, beach and the Negombo hotels that are formed along the sea side of the hotel road. There are other hotels such as Amagi Aria, which are located away from the beach but overlooking the lagoon which are also considered great options for stays in Negambo.

Jaffna

After a warm of nearly three decades, Jaffna is now a developing city with traces of the war from over a decade ago. There are so many interesting locations to visit in Jaffna such as Point Pedro which is the Northern most point of the island, the Public Library and also the fish market.

Anuradhapura & Polonnaruwa

Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa are two of the most visited cities in Sri Lanka, not only due to religious significance but also due to historical references. The Sri Maha Bodhiya which is a plant that was grown from a branch from the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya in India is also located in Anuradhapura. There are many temples, pagodas, lakes, and rivers that can be visited and there are so many lovely places by the side of the road where you can sit and enjoy a nice cup of tea with a piece of jaggery.

Galle Fort

The Galle Fort is a stunning location to visit if you are on the island. Located towards the south of the island the Galle Fort is now a popular tourist location as the inside of the fort has been developed to host small shops that sell accessories, clothing, souvenirs, and other products alongside cafes and restaurants which offer a stunning view of the India Ocean.
