Ethanol is a flammable colourless liquid. It is used as an alternative fuel and is commonly used as motor fuel or as an additive in gasoline and is in fact considered as an option for more "renewable" energy.
As mentioned above, apart from being used in the production of alcoholic beverages, ethanol is also used as an alternative fuel to gasoline for internal combustion engines. All existing gasoline engines on automobiles can operate with blends of up to 10% ethanol with gasoline.
