AMAZING FACTS ABOUT PSEUDOMONAS AERUGINOSA PIGMENT

Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria is a rod-shaped, Gram-Negative bacterium that causes diseases in both plants and animals (humans) and it is not easy to treat since it is naturally resistance to antibiotics.
Pigment is a colour of something (can be skin colour, hair colour, eyes colour etc).
The production of pigmentation have a high resistance to oxidative stress. It increases the invasiveness and the survival in immune cells leading to an increase in virulence bacterial pathogens.

Pyocyanin is a toxic crystalline (blue) pigment that is formed in the metabolism of a bacterium of Pseudomonas . It is produced by certain clinical strains from the pulmonary and extra pulmonary infections. It is usually found in high concentrations. This bacteria is usually found in soil, water and clinical specimens. It is used as an electron shuttle in microbial fuel cells by just enabling the transfer towards the microbialfuel cells. It was also used back then as a dye mixed with the redox potential anode.
