Computing fluently with multi-digit numbers
This will be another instructional video source throughout the lessons. Students will watch the videos and there will also be practice problems after each video.
I will use Flipgrid to make instructional videos of my own for the students to watch. After watching, the students can respond to the video, either individually or small group, by recording what they have learned or demonstrate what they have learned.
With Google the students can research the concepts we are working on before we begin and see some of the strategies we will be using to divide whole numbers and learn multiple operations with decimals. We will also use Google Classroom where all of the coursework will be located, streamlined and managed.
Google forms will be used for the assessments to test student's knowledge of dividing whole numbers and performing multiple operations with decimals.
i-Ready® is an online instruction and assessment program that I will use as one of the instructional lessons for my online learning module. The lessons will be assigned and I can get instant feedback.
We have access to the textbook we use online. This will be a tool I use to pull some extra practice problems during the lessons on each on the topics we cover.
MobyMax is another online instruction and assessment program that I will use as one of the instructional lessons for my online learning module. The lessons will be assigned and I can get instant feedback.
Prodigy is an engaging, curriculum-aligned math platform where students can practice the skills I assigned to them on the content we are working on. I can get feedback reports on the assignments to know exactly how my students performed. This can be used as one of the practice platforms.
This is just an example of a mnemonic to give students when we starting the lesson on dividing whole numbers. I will have students come up with a mnemonic and/or give students to remember the steps for division.
Long division is often considered one of the most challenging topics to teach so this will serve as another example like the Grid Method to teach students how to divide whole numbers.
The Grid Method is a video lesson of one of the strategies that I have chosen to teach my students how to divide whole numbers. This strategy uses the same steps as the standard algorithm and the students can use this method as an alternative when practicing division of whole numbers.
