The production of
linen is a time taking and effortful process. The flax plants are harvested and
pulled to their full length and left in the fields to soften. Meanwhile, the
bacteria and fungi come into action and this allows the woody section to break
down and separate fiber from the plant. The fiber collected from the plants and
then rolled to be stored for about 2-3 months. This makes them soften even
more. To remove the excess impurities the fiber is combed and then proceeded to
wet spinning. This results in a very soft yarn that is collected and spun
together with dry spinning technique. The yarn prepared is softer and can be
used for ideal duty such as heavy apparel fabrics such as tarps and tents.
