Doha Best Attractions – amazing places you must visit in the desert city

Doha is one of the most relaxed yet vibrant cities in the Gulf region and is easily one of the most visited destinations in the middle-east. There are absolutely so many things to see and do in Doha.

Museum of Islamic Art

The Museum of Islamic Art is one of the best places in all the middle-east to visit if Islamic history interests you. The museum has many exhibits from all over the world which depict various instances in the region's history and important instances in Islamic history.

Souq Waqif

There are two famous Waqif's in Doha; one is the Souq Al Wakra Hotel by Qatar by Tivoli, one of the best 5 star hotels in Doha and the other is the Souq Waqif. The Souq Waqif is one of the most unique and amazing places in Doha. This 250-year-old labyrinth is a place you could easily get lost in and not just literally. There is something new to discover around each corner. The Souq is mainly filled with a whole variety of shops and stalls where you can try traditional Doha cuisine and browse through a variety of local textiles.

Doha Corniche

This walkway is kind of reminiscent of Mumbai's Marine Drive. It was designed as a causeway between the north and south end of the city. The Corniche connects the Doha's emerging West Bay with the South of the city where the international airport is located. The Corniche runs right next to Corniche Street and now has an amazing view of the skyscrapers that decorate Doha's skyline. It is the perfect place for an evening walk.

Khalifa International Tennis and Squash stadium

This stadium is one of the reasons Qatar produces so many tennis players on an international level. The stadium houses 21 international size tennis courts and is the perfect place for any tennis or squash enthusiast to get lost in.

Villaggio Mall

Villaggio Mall is the perfect place to get away in this hot city. This is the largest and most famous Mall in Doha and boasts a wide range of stores with designer brands and an amazing food court. There are also movie theatres and a gondola themed park for children and a gondola ride influenced by the ones on Venice.

Barzan Towers

Barzan means high places in the native dialect and the historical site with this namesake was built in the 19th century. There are still watchtowers to be seen to this day which are roughly around 16m high. It can be determined that the fortifications were built to observe the ships coming into the port.

Desert Trips

Doha is surrounded by the desert and technically shouldn't exist. Humans tend to avoid settling in regions without fresh water and land to grow food. However, when you get past the dry and harsh nature of the desert you realise there is a beauty in the desolation. The dunes are majestic and by night the desert takes on a whole new personality. So when you are visiting the region be sure to go on a desert safari you won't be disappointed.
