I've been discussing memes such as Gangnam Style in my recent presentations. I'm particularly interested in memes as an emerging information literacy and their study is important for comprehending the way in which information flows through systems. Dae Ryun Chang wrote that one of reasons why Gangnam Style has taken off is that "the song intentionally lacked a copyright so that people would be encouraged to create their own online parodies, in essence their own 'XYZ Style'".

On May 15, 2012, the students of Eanes Elementary came together to share a message of hope and help against all the bullies they have encountered in life. This song encourages those around to not stand and watch, but instead "lend a hand".

Project Firework: The official lipdub-flashmob mash-up performed by the amazing staff at Forest Trail Elementary! On Friday, May 6th, 2011 the entire staff at Forest Trail Elementary made MAGIC in Austin, Texas as they filmed a lipdub to Katy Perry's "Firework."
