Although it is known as a cave the Al Marneef cave isn't a cave to which you can walk into. It is one of the most popular locations in Salalah and there are many tourists and locals in the areas at most times during the day.
This small but important and UNESCO World Heritage Site of Frankincense takes back to around the first century CE. It was rediscovered by James Bent in the 19th Century and has been an archaeological site since the discovery.
Taqah Castle is probably one of the new castles that were built in Oman and although the architecture was kept to look significantly similar to the older buildings. This mansion was once owned by the Sheikh Ali Bon Taman Al Ma'ashani who is the maternal great grandfather of Sultan Qaboos. It is located about 30 kilometres away from Salalah but all the taxi drivers are aware of the location as it is a popular tourist attraction
Salalah is well-known for the fresh fruits that the city produces. They are distributed all around Oman as they are grown in abundance. Coconuts and bananas are the most commonly found fruits and there are so many plantations you can visit in Salalah in order to look at the agriculture and the treatments for the plantations. You can purchase some fresh fruits or drink some juice after walking around the plantations.
