Home to the country's second-largest city Penang is a state located in the northwest of Malaysia and a popular tourist destination. Attractions here are plentiful on the with temples, beaches, and scenic adventures and so much to explore.

Visit Monkey Beach

Buried deep within Penang National Park this lush and secluded beach is a stunning place to relax. There are two ways to enter the beach; you can either take a boat from the entrance of the park or take an adventurous 1.5 hike through the jungle. There are a few basic bars and cafes to relax and even basic huts for rent for an overnight stay.

Explore Georgetown street art

The Street art scene in the city is one of its most famous attractions; you can find street art plastered on buildings and walls across the city. Rent a bicycle and have a fun time exploring George Town and this unique aspect of the city.

Hike Penang National Park

Located on the North West tip of Penang, it is one of the smallest parks in Malaysia. The park offers several hiking trails through the jungle which leads you to one of the many isolated beaches surrounding the park. Camping is allowed in certain beaches where huts are provided, but take a sufficient water supply as some tend to be secluded.

Visit this magnificent Hindu Temple that honours the god Murugan, you will have to climb 513 stairs to reach the site. The climb will be worth it, as you get to explore the temple and the spectacular view of George Town skyline from its summit.

Climb Penang Hill

Be whisked away upon the longest and steepest funicular track in Asia! The track will take you to the former colonial hill station. Take in breath-taking views of the island amid the picturesque surroundings of the hill station. Clan jetties

Clan jetties are tiny stilted villages perched on the water. It is a unique attraction in Penang and several can be found on George Town's east coast. Each clan jetty has something different to offer, Chew Jetty is the most famous and tourist-friendly of the clan jetties with many vendors and shops catering to visitors. Close by is Tan Jetty, which is perhaps the most visually stunning of all and perfect for a good photo session.

Eat a Rollney

An interesting and tasty dessert unique to this part of Malaysia, where Kurtos Kalcos also known as a Hungarian chimney cake is turned into an ice cream cone, essentially a cake cone filled to the brim with ice cream!

This quirky little museum located in George Town is famous for its namesake exhibits! It is open seven days a week from 9 to 5.30 pm. You can get mind-boggling photos to keep your friends guessing on your upside-down adventures. The staff is friendly and happy to help you get many photographs as you wish.
