You can expect Bangkok to get pretty hot and humid. The tropical weather needs to be taken into consideration whenever you travel out here. The surrounding grounds of the Grand Palace can be quite unbearable if you do not go prepared. There are many people walking around in groups and getting any breeze to cool you down is quite non-existent. Therefore, drink plenty of water beforehand and take a refillable bottle with you! A hat and a pair of sunglasses to protect you from the scorching sun are vital! There are many fans here you can purchase in local stores, get one to cool you down. You won't regret it! An umbrella to protect you from the hot sun will also be a good purchase.

2

Security

Before you enter the Grand Palace, you will be checked especially if you're carrying any large-sized bags with you. So be prepared to encounter some security checks at the entrance. It's the Grand Palace after all? You cannot walk in just like that. Besides, tourists always want to book accommodation a little bit away from this area due to the touristy crowds but also in a place where the Grand Palace isn't too far that you can't access it easily. If you would like to do the same, you can book a 5-star Bangkok hotel the likes of Emporium Suites by Chatrium.

The Grand Palace is considered a sacred space, which means you need to make sure you wear appropriate attire. There is a very strict code for dressing which you will have to respect and adhere to if you wish to enter. You have to cover your knees and shoulders which means no shorts or short-shorts! Cleavage revealing tops and strappy ones won't be allowed. These kinds of dress codes are practised in most temples of Thailand. Therefore, when packing your travel bag, make sure to throw in some clothes that are fit for these places.

The King does not reside here

The Palace began construction works back in the year 1782 and served the Royal Family up until the year 1925. However, now the King does not reside here anymore and is used for grand functions only. The carvings, adornments and artworks of the Grand Palace are truly amazing. You will find yourself quite taken aback with its interior!

Head out early

The Palace opens at about 8:30 AM and closes by 3:30 PM every day. Having said that, you need to choose an ideal time for visiting. It is always good to head out early in the morning to avoid the crowds and the humidity. If you could be there by 8:30 that would be great as most tourists end up heading out quite later on.
