The surrounding grounds of the Grand Palace can be quite unbearable if you do not go prepared. A hat and a pair of sunglasses to protect you from the scorching sun are vital! There are many fans here you can purchase in local stores, get one to cool you down. You won't regret it! An umbrella to protect you from the hot sun will also be a good purchase.

Security

Before you enter the Grand Palace, you will be checked especially if you're carrying any large-sized bags with you. So be prepared to encounter some security checks at the entrance. It's the Grand Palace after all? You cannot walk in just like that. Besides, tourists always want to book accommodation a little bit away from this area due to the touristy crowds but also in a place where the Grand Palace isn't too far that you can't access it easily. If you would like to do the same, you can book a 5-star Bangkok hotel the likes of Emporium Suites by Chatrium.

There is a very strict code for dressing which you will have to respect and adhere to if you wish to enter. You have to cover your knees and shoulders which means no shorts or short-shorts! Cleavage revealing tops and strappy ones won't be allowed. These kinds of dress codes are practised in most temples of Thailand.
