Putuo Mountain is located in the Zheijiang Province in China and is considered to be among the top four holy mountain destinations in the country. Here are the must-visit places in this mountain.


Puji Temple

This is one of the popular places of religious significance in this country. The ancient temple holds all the religiously significant celebrations and events. The temple covers an area of about 14,000 m² and has an amazing collection of halls and pavilions. The multi treasured pagoda of about 18 m is a must-visit place when visiting Mt. Putuo. Fayu Temple

The second biggest temple in Mt. Putuo is the Fayu Temple which is built atop a hill. The views need no introduction. When visiting this temple, it is a must to head to the Nine-dragon Wall, Nine Dragon Guanyin Hall and the Jade Buddhist Hall. Inside the Jade Hall, there used to be the jade sculpture of the Skamania from Myanmar, and that's how it got its name. However, it was completely destroyed during the time of the Cultural Revolution of China.


Huiji Temple

Third, on the list is the third-biggest temple in the mountain. This temple sits right on top of the Fuding Mountain which is the tallest peak in the Putuo Mountain Island. Right in front of this temple, is a platform, from where you can view a beautiful sunrise or sunset. This temple has an incredible collection of rooms, lofts and halls! Nanhai Guanyin Statue

This is a 33 m tall golden statue that stands on a two-storey plinth which is surrounded by an incredible plaza where there is a massive collection of sculptures (in front and within this plinth). For a complete tour of the area, you should at least set aside an hour


Purple Bamboo Forest

This place is located in the South East region of Mount Putuo. The Purple bamboo forest is believed to be the place of residence of the Goddess of Mercy. In this area, you will also find the Purple Bamboo Temple, Chaoyin Cave and Unwilling-to-go Guanyin Monastery. Another reason why a lot of people go to this monastery is the sea, which is located right by the Forest.


Xitian Scenic Area

The Xitian Scenic Area is a popular place for rocks-cape. You will have to walk about twenty minutes from the passenger's dock to get to the area! All kinds, sizes, colours and shapes of rocks and stones will greet you and is the highlight of this scenic area! And that is truly a sight you must witness in your trip here!
