5 Must-visit places in Hollywood Road Hong Kong - Create a fun list

Regardless of what the name of this road might suggest it has nothing to do with show business. The Hollywood road in Hong Kong is about history.

1

The Stone Slabs Of Pottinger Street

Located in the central part of HK this is where you must start your exploration of Hollywood Road. This will be the first place you see when you exit the Central station which is the closest MRT station near Hollywood Road. If you are staying at a Sheung Wan Hotel the likes of Travelodge Central Hollywood, this road is a short walk away. Begin at this point in Hollywood road and look at the popular stone slab street. This stone slab street is an Avenue created only for pedestrians and is built with granite blocks. This unique design lets the people walk on this road without slipping and sliding, especially during the rainfall.

2

The Law And Order Art

Next in your exploration of the Hollywood Road, you will find the entrance to the old Central police station Grounds which is now local Centre for heritage and arts. There are 15 buildings in this compound and the oldest one dates back as far as the year 1864. Many decades ago, these buildings were used by the law and order department in Central. Even a prison existed in this compound until the year 2006.

3

The Central Mid Level Escalator

Once you explore the old police compound and walk West towards the old Bailey Road you will find the mid-level escalator above you. This escalator runs for a length of about 2,600 feet and goes all the way to the Victoria Harbour. One end to another, the people on this escalator will be travelling at a height of 450 feet. Given the length of the escalator ride and the height they climb, walking this length would usually kill your legs if you are going to be doing that. But on this escalator, you can complete this journey in less than half an hour. The escalator is open from 6 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. After 10:00 a.m. this escalator runs in reverse and ends only at midnight.

4

The Murals Of Graham Street

About a minute away from the last stop on this list you will be able to find this iconic mural in Hong Kong. The owner of the fashion store found on this end of the street hired a local artisan to create a mural on the wall that faces the Graham Street. This mural is now one of the most photographed and most popular places in all of Hong Kong. Many million selfies have been taken in front of this creation.
