The Mount Putuo

Once you have secured accommodation at one of the many 5 star hotels in China the likes of Pan Pacific Ningbo, you can then think of places you have to visit while you are a holiday in here. The first place that people suggest though, is this place that is found in the southern part of the Hangzhou Bay. Back during the time of the Tang dynasty this mountain was the centre of Chinese Buddhism. There are many great temples found in this area and they were all built-in places that offer tranquil backdrops for the people to worship in peace. Apart from these temples you will also find a huge Institution of Buddhism here. There are three major festivals that are celebrated in this part of China and they fall in February, June and September respectively. During these times of the year, people from all over the world come to celebrate it together.

Tianyi Square

This is the most popular hub in Ningbo city and spreads out for about 350 million square metres. The area has about 20 buildings things which are easily four levels tall. This square has a water show, a water film show, a Street corridor, a Church, and many more things for you to explore. Thousands of people come to this place to eat, shop and explore the entertainments offered here. During some parts of the year, you will also find huge fashion shows being conducted at the square. This whole place has a laid back vibe and is colourful at all times of the day.

The Tianyi Pavilion Museum

Found in the western part of the Ningbo city, this is one of the oldest private libraries and museums found in China. This place is also one of the oldest family libraries found in the world. Built during the years 1561 to 1566, this was a private library that was used by the people of the Ming dynasty. Nowadays you will find books that cover various topics that amount to about three hundred thousand copies. These books cover the whole Ming dynasty history along with a few other dynasties. The library is about 16,000 square metres big and is divided into three main areas, one for book storing, one for gardening and the final one for exhibits.

The Ningbo Cicheng Ancient Town Site

This town is found about 10 kilometres away from the Ningbo city and is named honouring a loving mother and her doting son. The locals take the time and tell you the story of this place and how it came to be what it is today, with much pride. This town is also known to be the most charming ancient area in this part of China. Walking Through the town, you will notice walls with great cultural relics along with well-preserved buildings and beautiful scenery. An exploration of this ancient town will take you a good few hours, thus, keep aside a whole day to explore this gorgeous destination in Ningbo.
