If you want to go back in time and do the usual farmers market-style shopping, visiting the Dutch market is the best way to do so. Located under a roof that is almost 300 years old this market is bright, colourful, and is full of life. It has been in existence since 1861 and even today you will find that the locals in the area come here to buy their daily needs.

Whale Watching

This part of the ocean is the absolute perfect place to watch these mighty marine creatures. You will be able to spot blue whales, humpback whales and dolphins if you are lucky. Fishing and Diving In Galle

If you are a surfing or a diving person, Galle has a great many memorable experiences for you to enjoy. Apart from the Portuguese and the Dutch buildings it offers, this beach town also has a few great spots for surfing in the area. The waves that are found in this part of the country are good enough even for the beginner surfer. As a pro, you will find that these waters are easy and if you want some tough waves, go further down south. If you are planning on diving underwater while you are here, you will be in for a wonderful surprise with the world that it has to offer underneath.

Cliff Jumping

This is not something that is recommended to be tried out by everyone but it is a popular activity in the Fort area. You can watch the jumpers take a dive into the waters deep below from the top of the Cliff. These jumpers usually hang out at the main Fort area. If you want to take a great picture of them diving all you have to do is pay them about $10 and watch them expertly dive into the ocean avoiding the rocky parts of the sea.
