Heathy You

Overweight is something that just snacks up on you. Have you ever wondered why the diet and nutrition industry is so lucrative? There are hundreds, thousands, millions of people, all trying to get that slime, perfect body they are promised by following such a simple plan: take this diet supplement and snap your fingers. You'll have a fit body in no time. The problem with this is there aren't many people who achieve the promised results. Why? Because crazy diet fads and supplements only do so much. Each and every body is made up differently, and every human has different genetics. In order to lose weight and tone up, you actually have to put in some work and effort. You might not end up looking like those models on TV, but that is okay. You can be the healthiest you, and here's how:

Exercise IS Important

Exercise IS Important

Why is exercising so important? Can't we all just sprinkle a little magical powder on our fettuccini and call it good? Unfortunately, no. Exercise is important to create lean muscle mass. This lean muscle is what burns the calories you take in, without allowing you to gain weight. In order to lose fat and gain muscle, you have to exercise. Now, if you choose not to work up a sweat and intend on starving yourself, you'll have a big problem on your hands. You will lose lean muscle mass, which slows your metabolic rate, and can throw your body into "starvation mode". If you intake a high calorie meal, your body will end up storing the excess fat.

Diet is Key

Diet is Key

Studies at different colleges have proven that exercises involving body rotation and abdominal stabilization resulted in the most muscle growth around the belly. If you get your heart rate pumping, at least one hour a day, coupled with a nutritional diet, you will not only lose belly fat but gain that lean muscle you've always wanted. Diet is key. Not starvation. Basically, you need to eat! Sometimes cooking a homemade meal with proper proteins can be inconvenient, but the thing is most of those convenient dinners don't have appropriate nutritional value. Also, remember if you drink alcohol, keep in mind the calories. It might be higher than you think. If you're one of those people who cook with wine, and occasionally put it in your food, this is for you.

Jump Start

Jump Start

If you refuse to intake good calories, you will be depriving your body so much that eventually you will binge on something unhealthy. Shoveling that huge piece of cheesecake into your mouth just counteracted all your previous efforts. In the end, you'll end up having consumed more calories and the ones that are higher in fat too. Your body will not be able to produce the lean muscle, and your metabolism will slow. If you don't spend a lot of time on your feet during the day, say walking around your college campus, you might want to think about getting out and jogging through Utah's scenic hills. Amp up your heath regimen to jump start your weight loss.

Personal Training

Personal Training

Utah colleges around the state offer programs about personal training that teaches these same facts. Why people get so caught up in diet fads and supplements is because they are all yearning to achieve their weight loss goals. It is sad to say, but the majority of them are going about it all the wrong way.
