The area that is Queensland

Spread over an area of 1,727,000 square kilometres, Queensland happens to be the second-largest state in Australia, the largest of all being Western Australia. Would you believe us if we said that it is roughly five times the size of Japan or seven times the size of Great Britain and more than twice the size of Texas?

World Natural Heritage Sites galore!

Queensland is home to five out of eleven of Australia's World Natural Heritage areas which include the Scenic Rim National Parks, Fraser Island, Riversleigh Fossil Fields, the Wet Tropics and last but not least, the Great Barrier Reef. In addition to these beloved, yet quite mainstream attractions of Queensland, there are plenty more places to pay a visit to. The fact that Queensland's accommodation front is far beyond perfect with a variety of options to suit travellers of all sorts, for instance, the existence of brands such as Oaks Middlemount- one of the best among many Middlemount service apartments, means that convenience of travellers is simply at its best.

Evidently, Queensland is home to more than 4 million people in total, of which more than half reside outside the greater metropolitan area of Brisbane. This is a large proportion when compared to other Australian states.

The Origin of the Queenslanders

Over the duration of the 19th century, many people from Britain itself and Europe have moved to and settled down comfortably in Queensland although as of recent the trend seems to be moving towards the South-East Asian region. That being said, statistics show that more than one-third of Queenslanders are either migrants themselves or children of migrants.

Queensland on average gets between eight and nine hours of sunshine on the daily. If that doesn't put a smile on your face, we don't know what will!

This vivacious state of Queensland is notoriously famous for more than 100 different native vertebrates being found to live here, of which, most are unique to the region.
