Reasons Why Brisbane is the Best City in Australia – the charm of a 280-day sun city!

Known also for its youthful fervour and amiable vibe, Brisbane is Australia's most diverse and fastest-growing destination. Although (for us), 280 days of sun a year is plenty reason to pack up and move to Brisbane, here are some reasons why Brisbane is better than other Australian cities.

1

Again, 280 days of sun a year, mate!

It is definitely beginning to sound like we cannot get over after the fact, but truly, would it even be the worst thing if we couldn't? Along with the bright sunshine comes all that opportunity to take advantage of outdoor attractions like Kangaroo Point for some rock-climbing and perhaps some abseiling for the adventurous souls. Even if you let all else slide, the views from Kangaroo Point of Captain Cook bridge and the city Botanical gardens are only describable as spectacular!

2

For the love of Koalas

Forget soulmates and head on over to the Lone Pine and you may find yourself a 'koala-mate'. The biggest Koala sanctuary in no less the whole world, it also homes Kangaroos, both species uniquely representing Australia in some capacity. Sure, it can get a little too 'touristy' for your likes, but know that given its collection of over 100 species of creatures, this sanctuary has made its way to the Guinness records too.

The Markets are Everything

Brisbane's markets are as 'Bohemian' as they come. Period. These lively markets feature everything from fresh produce to fashion to handicrafts and everything in between. It features a collection of artisan stores, of both local and international cuisine, serving up classic dishes with modern fusion to add that zing factor. On top of all the shopping, you can possibly accommodate into your schedule, there are also a number of diverse districts of this CBD that you can choose to explore. While covering all the districts in one visit would be just next to impossible, the impressive collection of Brisbane CBD hotels would be your best bet to explore as much as you can fit into your time frame. Accommodation options the likes of Oaks Lexicon Apartments offer great value specifically with their highly convenient location.

Sandy Beaches

Did you know that the world's second sandiest beach is North Stradbroke Island and is followed in third place but the Moreton Island? The more cultural, inner-city beach is South Bank and is simply paradise with an arena full of restaurants and cafes and also houses the Queensland Museum, Queensland Art Gallery and the Gallery of Modern Art.

5

The uncomplicated art to getting around

With many buses, trains and green taxis anywhere you look around, getting around in Brisbane is jokingly easy! Public transport facilities are all supported by a Go-card but believe us when we say that there is nothing like a walk along one of Brisbane's smooth walkways. Not to mention bicycling worry-free like the sustainable traveller you are!

Watch a Match

Oh did we not mention the many matches that you could be watching in Brisbane at some of the most renowned stadiums such as Suncorp, which is home of both the A-League as well as the Nationa rugby Team. Matches are held all year round but if you fancy something exclusive like the State of Origin or the likes, we suggest you check out the months of June and July.
