Alcohol is strictly prohibited in all parts of the country except in the resort premises you are staying at. Also, you can freely roam around in shorts and bikinis while you are at your accommodation and the private beaches but you cannot do so in any other place.
The cost of food and drinks in this country is comparatively higher when you compare it to the other beach destinations in this part of the world because the Maldives does not have many natural resources. The ingredients and other items to make the food and drinks are imported from the countries nearby. This makes the cost of food and drink much more expensive. When you are booking accommodation, it is better to go for a package that covers all your meals and other needs inside the hotel itself because you will be incurring extra costs otherwise.
When you visit some popular destination that you have seen in so many pictures on your feedback home you might be disappointed because sometimes the photographs do not match the reality that is found in the country. But when it comes to holiday in the Maldives, you will not be disappointed at all because the pictures do no justice to the place in real life.
