05 popular beaches to visit in Koh Samui - Sunshine and sand times

When you are on a holiday in Koh Samui, beaches are the main attraction and here are some of the best beaches you can spend time.

1

Chaweng Beach

This is the most populous stretch of golden sands you can find in Koh Samui. This beach is also one of the biggest reasons as to why Koh Samui is still top on the list of busiest tourist towns in this part of Thailand. While you are at the beach you will also be able to partake in other activities especially if you are put up at [](http://tinyurl.com/y64z4sys) the likes of Avani+ Samui Resort.

2

Lamai Beach

Being the second-largest tourist hub in Koh Samui, compared to the beach listed first on this article this beach is a lovely place which is perfect for you to spend the day at while you soak in the sunshine. The deep channel found at the edge of this beach is perfect for swimming and other kinds of water sports. Compared to the Chaweng beach, Lamai Beach is less popular and crowded but still offers the travellers plenty of shopping, dining, and accommodation options nearby.

3

Bophut Beach

This is a long sweeping stretch of golden sand that stretches for several kilometres and is also known to be one of the oldest living areas of the island. Right at the edge of this beach you will find the Fishermen's Village. This beach is second-largest exploration and attraction point in Koh Samui as it is an elegant and graceful beach destination. For a romantic vacation or honeymoon and with a loved one, this place is apt.

4

Maenam Beach

Since Koh Phangan has all the waves that pulls in the crowds to its beaches, Maenam is still quite a peaceful place that does not attract much of a pull. This could also be because you find many hotels located at the end of long private roads which would also mean that unless you are put up at one of these hotels you would not think of exploring this beach. This place is perfect for a long walk during sunset.

5

Choeng Mon Beach

For the perfect picture during your holiday in Thailand, this beach is a must-visit as it is located right by the bay giving it a unique shape. This is also a beach that is littered with quite a lot of options and a calm ambience but is still not as popular as the other beaches. The rock formations found at the corner of this beach makes for amazing snorkelling sites. This rock formation is also one of the reasons that this beach gives you a beautiful backdrop for all the vacation photos in Thailand. While you're at this beach, don't forget to partake in the water sport activities available. The unique feature on this beach is that it has a tiny little islet right by the sands that can be easily accessed by taking a kayak.
