If you are in Nuwara Eliya, visiting a tea factory will be a great idea. Just a few kilometres from the city, the area is covered with magnificent green tea plantations you can easily reach. You can even get a public bus from the city centre. You will love to see how tea leaves are being plucked and tea being made.
As the view along the way is breathtakingly beautiful, you will definitely adore the train journey back from Nanuoya to Kandy. It will be more comfortable if you book a first class compartment which offers better observation facilities.
It is a beautiful lake with rowing facilities, boat rides, food stalls and a few games for children. People come here for family outings, to relax, and just to enjoy the happy vibe. The scenic beauty is also gorgeous.
Referred to as Little New Zealand, Ambewela Farm is another main attraction of visitors to Nuwara Eliya with its lush green grass spread over a large area and is very picturesque. Visitors can see cows and other cattle. Visitors can buy fresh dairy products from the farm shop.
Moon Plains is basically a vast stretch of plain land with lush green grass in center of tea estates, forest reserves and mountains. Travelers can relax, breathe in the fresh air and feel happy once they come to this place. It brings back the serenity that is lost in the complicated city lives.
It is very easy to visit Labookellie Mackwoods Tea center on your way to or from Nuwara Eliya for a warm cup of tea. Around Mackwoods Tea Factory, there is a fantastic area to do trekking, taking pictures with plantation workers etc.
Take a walk around the city of Nuwara Eliya and get the feel of "Little England". There are colonial-style houses which are very attractive and colourful flower beds are seen everywhere, which will be a treat to your eyes.
