Beautiful waterfalls in Sri Lanka - These stunning creations of nature

When you go towards Nuwara Eliya and Bandarawela one of the main attractions you get to witness is the stunning waterfalls that jump from up top.

Baker's Falls

The Baker's falls make it to the top of the list because it is a wide waterfall that creates several mini waterfalls as it flows from the top. Even though the waterfall is only 20 metres in height it is a stunning view to see.

Bopath Ella

This name is given to the waterfall as it looks like a leaf of the Bo tree. The waterfall begins at a narrow space which falls down and then opens up widely, up to two rock formations on either side. These rocks drive the water to a narrow section from which the water creates a beautiful cascading movement. The Bopath Ella is not very tall as it marks only about 30 metres in height. It is located in the village known as Agalawatte and can be accessed quite easily.

Dunhida Falls

The Dunhida Waterfall is by far the most popular waterfall on the island. It is mostly known for the smokey spray created by the water droplets. It is located about 5 kilometres away from the Badulla city and you can even take a trishaw up to a certain extent and then walk the last kilometre. The Dunhida falls is created by a diversion of the Badulu Oya.

St Clairs Falls

The St Clairs Waterfall is known as the little Niagara Falls in Sri Lanka. The stunning waterfall is created with the merge of two different waterfalls known as Maha and Kuda falls. The merger brings a stunning cascading effect to the waterfall which is only about 80 metres in height.

Devon Falls

The Devon waterfall is one of the stunning waterfalls located close to Colombo. If you do not have time to visit the hill country to experience these waterfalls it is best to visit at least the Devon which will sum up the experience for you. Ramboda Falls

The Ramboda falls is a popular waterfall in Sri Lanka. It is located in Pussellawa on the A5 highway, The waterfall is located around 945 meters above sea level and can be seen from most of the hotels in Ramboda.

Kirindi Ella

The Kirindi Oya falls are a rather underrated waterfall in Sri Lanka. It is a stunning beauty that drops about 116 meters from the top and is located only about 5 kilometres away from the A4 highway. The waterfall is quite wide as well as tall which makes it a stunning view from afar as well as from nearby.

Diyaluma Falls

The Diyaluma Falls is a magnificent waterfall which is ranked as the second-highest in Sri Lanka and the sixth-highest around the world. The view is absolutely majestic as the fall is about 220 metres in height.
