Some time ago, we saw two caravans that we wanted so today we went to the same place, and the one my mum wanted was sold so we took the one me and dad wanted with an awning and solar panels. I’m happy we have the one I wanted because if you don’t like something it ruins everything even if it’s fun. I’m actually quite happy the one my mum wanted is gone not to be mean but it’s just easier to choose. It’s really weird we went to loads of campsites which had hundreds and hundreds of caravans and not one was fit for us either too heavy or too expensive. We’re planning to leave in June or July this year. We will start by the UK and then we will go to Ireland. It’s now sure we’re doing it.

First campsite

First campsite

Tuesday 16 of Apr 2019

This is our first campsite it is quite good but you have barely anything in the village so that is why I don't like it much. Its in Cornwall and its called Doubletrees Farm.
We named our caravan Niña which means “little girl” in Spanish and it was one of Christopher Columbus three boats La Pinta, La Santa Maria but he preferred La Niña. He used them to discover America.
I’m quite happy that we’re going soon! The
subjects I’m doing while I’m Home schooled are:

• English
• Math's
• Science
• Topic
• Geography
• History
• Technology/computing
• PE - Physical Education
• RE – Religious Education
• Art
• Foreign languages
• Music
• Cooking
• EE – Emotion Education

• Social Studies & Civics
• My favorite is ART!!!

Fursdon Farm

Fursdon Farm

Friday 2nd of Aug 2019

Breaking news! we are now going to be leaving around February because it took more time then expected and my mum was asked to stay longer at her work.Niña is getting on quite well to be honest. We have found an amazing campsite called Fursdon Farm. Fursdon Farm is a small south facing, family owned camping and caravanning site situated on the southern edge of Bodmin Moor near Liskeard, Cornwall. Their hideaway site is ideally situated for access to beaches and moorland in south east Cornwall. Comprising of 5 acres in a quiet rural setting with access to electric hook ups, shower and toilet facilities the site provides a perfect base for touring in Cornwall and Devon. The site is open from the 1st April to the 31st October.
Fursdon is privately owned and the responsibility for the preservation of the house and the estate lies with the family. There are about 750 acres of mixed arable and woodland including the home farm. You can also reserve The Shepherds Hut
there is a breakfast option if you really wish. There is space for two people stay in. Fursdon Farm is an amazing place for your first campsite it might be a small place but you can always feel relaxed as it is a very cozy and quiet and very sweet you could also say “Home sweet home”. Fursdon Farm is close to Liskard so if your caravan or campervan is in/close you could always check it out (only of course if you want to) the people who own the place are amazing they help you whenever you need it they keep the place clean (very clean)

Starting the voyage

Starting the voyage

Monday 23 Sep 2019

At Christmas, we will go down to France, I will go skiing and my brother will try⛷(which will be hilarious😂).Then Mum and Dad will go and fetch our caravan/campervan or van, while me and my brother will stay in France and when they come back we will start by the south of Italy and go to places like Sicily, Rome and Malta. When we are leaving, I am going to be home schooled. It should be quite easy because my brother is still in Preschool. I am really excited to start travelling starting by Italy.

Hi! I'm Mathilde

Hi! I'm Mathilde

This blog will be about my life on the road!

I’m nearly nine. One of my friend’s mum Mary, gave me the idea to do this blog. I’m feeling excited but also nervous.
I was born in France and moved to England when I was three and I’ve lived here ever since.
My mum’s Italian and she’s called Daniela and my dad’s French and called Patrice. I’ve also got a little brother called William.
I go to France quite often because that’s where the rest of my family is.

My Favourite

My Favourite

Saturday 23 of Feb 2019

Today we went to see some motorhomes. The one I preferred was where you have the driver and above your head you have a bed where mum and dad will sleep. Then a little further you have a table and some chairs where me and William will sit when we are traveling. On the other side, you have the kitchen. At the far end, you have a double bed, under the bed you have storage which is also your garage. Next to the bed you have a door that leads you to the toilet.

Campervan or Caravan.

Campervan or Caravan.

Sunday 24 of Feb 2019

Today we were thinking about buying a caravan. The difference is that you have a car pulling it along and you can’t drive it from the inside. I would prefer to have a campervan, I really don’t know why I just do.

No to the ambulance

Wednesday 25 of sep 2019

Yesterday we went to see an ambulance. 🚑 I didn't really like it as the seat that William and me will sit is facing backward facing. Mum was the only one who liked it me and dad didn't like it at all. We are not going to buy it.

choosing a college

choosing a college

We are starting to look at colleges, I really want to go to ICC (Ivybridge Community College), because all my friends go there and I have been there quite a lot of times for a gym and dance show. I will be visiting there on Tuesday. I also have the option of Kevicc Community College that I am visiting on Tuesday in two weeks.
I don't believe that 6 years ago I had only just started school.

Last Day Of School

Last Day Of School

21 of Dec 2019
Yesterday was my last day at school! I got a big card with a photo of all my classmates, memories of my school days, messages and presents with cards.
It was really sad to leave but I don't think I will realize I am not coming back after the Christmas holidays because we always break up for the holidays.
We are leaving tomorrow for the hotel.🏨 I can't wait to leave but it has been very difficult to get ready to leave.

Getting Ready

Getting Ready

Thursday 30 Jan 2020
On the 23 of December we went down to France to spend time with the family for Christmas.
I went Skiing and got my first star and my brother tried and to be honest he was quite good when I saw him at the end but apparently he was not very confident at the beginning but gained confidence by the end. I also went to see Chinese lanterns with one of my cousins called Luca. I also went to Renoir museum with my Aunt and Uncle. If I haven’t already said, me and my brother are going to go and fetch the caravan with our parents because we didn't sell Niña so we are going to travel England and once we have sold her, we are going to go to Italy and other places just like we had planned the second time. I went to a museum for Naïve art and I liked it. Next week on Tuesday we are leaving for the airport and we are coming back to England to start our travels!

First campsite of the voyage!!!

First campsite of the voyage!!!

Sunday 1st of March 2020

As I told you all, we arrived in England and have been staying at Zeacombe for the past week. We have been to South Molton, Tiverton, Knightshayes, Clovelly, Appledore and to a couple of libraries. We had a couple of problems at first, but had the people who look after the campsite who helped us whenever we needed it, so I would recommend them. Homeschooling is going well, and my mum keeps on buying me school books, so I don’t feel like I could fall behind. I am still in contact with all my friends, so I am not losing my best friends. We are planning to go to Gloucestershire next. We are now settling in, so we can feel the home feeling and we can call it “Home Sweet Home“. My brother is going to go to preschool, so me and mum can work together but not every day, if not it won’t be any use we did this, because we won’t be all four of us together. We have no plan yet if we are going to come back and live in South Brent, but we are definitely going to have to go back to sell the house, if we are not coming back. I really miss school, so I wish I could go back there a little bit to see all my friends, because FaceTime and Gmail is good, but I just really want to see them. I am very happy my mum and dad took this decision, because I am seeing them much more than if they had not taken this decision. Living in a caravan as small as ours is fine. We were expecting much worse, that we would be all crammed together, but no, there is enough space to move around and in the campsite, we have showers and toilets etc., so we don’t need to use our teensy bathroom. The weather is affecting our plans, but we are finding ways to not let the weather interfere too much.

Seeing My Friends

Seeing My Friends

Wed 18th of Mar 2020

On the Saturday the 7th I went to see my friends (Eliza and Miette) at Killerton in the afternoon and spent the afternoon there then I went back down with Eliza and Miette to another of my friends (called Isla) to have a sleepover at her house. When we arrived Isla had made us a big den where we would sleep. As it had been a long time that I hadn’t seen them we had a chat and then we decided to play musical bumps where one of us played the guitar (even though we didn’t know how to). Then we had dinner (pizza)
and we watched a film that none of us liked called Bratz. In the middle of the film Miette left and once it was finished we went and got ready for bed. When we woke up and we played babies (I was the baby Isla the mum and Eliza was the big sister). After Isla’s dad called us for breakfast of maple syrup and bacon (Yum). We played musical bumps again but this time with Isla’s big brother and sister as Miette had left. In the middle of the game Eliza had to go home and I stayed a little longer. Once I got in the car we went to buy some food. Once we had finished my mum dropped me of to of to Holly-Maries house. We played a bit on Holly-Maries phone and then we acted out a series we watched on TV. We then played with Holly’s sister. It had been ages I hadn’t seen Holly because she moved school in September so we haven’t been able to see each other but we did bump into each other at Tesco in December.
I am so happy I saw all my friends as I miss them a lot!

My Book

My Book

Thursday 18 of Jun 2020

Hello everyone,
I'm sorry I haven't put any post up in a while. Sadly, our journey is finished and we have sold Niña 😭😢 I have kept busy by writing a book called, My "Normal" Life. There are going to be 6 books and I will write a post when I have published my next book. They are all going to be KU (Kindle Unlimited) so more people can read them. They are not very long, around 25 pages each.
I hope you enjoy them!
