Well, Mackay is widely known for this activity, so let us start this list with that. These are shy little cute creatures that belong to the clear crystal waters of the Eungella National Park. The National Park is located 1 1/2-hour drive away from Mackay. You should arrive here at dusk or dawn in order to watch platypuses feed and frolic in the waters from viewpoints, that are dedicated just for this activity. The Finch Hatton Gorge is one of them, where you will come across brilliant waterfalls, natural swimming pools, and a great walk altogether. The trail is around 4.2 kilometres and winds its way through a dense forest. Make sure to check out the Wheel of Fire and the Araluen waterfalls. You can always cool down in one of the natural pools.
